Donations Needed for Vinita Fireworks Show

The Vinita Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting donations for the 6th annual Bob McSpadden Memorial Fireworks Show. This Independence Day celebration is paid for entirely by the community with a goal of $15,000. The City of Vinita donated $2,000. In addition, Cherokee Nation Businesses gave $1,500. $500 donors include First National Bank and the Vinita Daily Journal. “Contributions from our sponsors plus your generous donation will ensure that this patriotic tradition is a success,” said Executive Director Monica Bagwell. The Vinita Wellness Center will be hosting our 6th annual Cherokee Nation Fit Kids Camp for children entering grades 1st-5th. Applications will be available May 1st and will need to be turned in no later than May 31st. This is a first come first serve basis. We will be accepting 50 campers per week this year, 10 campers from each grade. VACC Classic Golf Tournament Postponed Due To Weather

Vinita, OK – The VACC Classic Golf Tournament has been postponed due to weather. The tournament will be Sunday, May 6 at The Coves Golf Course located at 32922 Pebble B​each in Afton, Oklahoma. This four-man scramble with a shotgun start makes for an exciting day, complete with lunch and a lot of prizes. Lunch will be served at 11:30am, and golf begins at 1:00pm. There will be prizes for longest drive, longest putt, and closest to the pin. Dick Lanes of Grand Lake is sponsoring a hole-in-one contest, offering $20,000 toward the purchase of a new Polaris ATV or Sea-Doo PWC.
