City of Vinita

     The City of Vinita was incorporated in 1871. The City has an elected Mayor and Council form of government. Citizens are represented by a total of eight council members. The city is divided into four wards and two council members represent each ward. City Council meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Vinita City Hall.

The Vinita Fire Department has ten full time paid personnel and eight volunteers providing fire, rescue and public education. The fire department has three class A pumpers, two tankers, two grass rigs and one rescue. The Vinita Fire Department is located at 203 W. Canadian Avenue. Vinita’s current fire rating is 5. The Vinita Police Department has a total staff of 22. There are 15 officers and detectives and one K-9 officer. The Vinita police department office is located in City Hall, 104 E. Illinois.
